Its an update issue.
Please ensure to delete the old jars before updating under linux. This problem does not occur if you are using windows.

Hi everybody!

I've just setup a new Mendelson AS2 server on Mandrake Linux system, i use to make this on Windows system on witch everything is ok.

As it's says in your AS2 server Installation instruction for Linux, i download and install the last version of JDK (not JRE): Java SE Development Kit 6u18, it was the first time i install JVM on this machin.
My issue seems to be exactly the same, when i try to start Mendelson AS2 i got this error message:

INFO: Extract file:/home/support/as2/jetty/webapps/as2.war to /tmp/Jetty_0_0_0_0_8080_as2.war__as2__4x5vr/webapp
Feb 4, 2010 3:14:54 PM org.mortbay.log.Slf4jLog warn SEVERE: unavailable java.lang.IllegalStateException: Level number 3 is not recognized.

Despite of this i got the AS2 starting windows but nothing else!
any idea????

Please ensure to have the right files in the classpath, have a look at AS2.lax of the windows installation. The right classpath is stored there in the property lax.class.path.

I used the AS2.lax file to set my classpath, i wasn't able de find a few of them in the linux AS2 package:
lax.jar
jlib/jms/commons-logging-api.jar
jetty/lib/jsp-2.1/jsp-api-2.1.jar
jlib/commons-httpclient-3.1.jar

I still have error message and as you say it must due to missing path but witch one?

Problem accessing /as2/start/. Reason:

Level number 1 is not recognized.

Caused by:
java.lang.IllegalStateException: Level number 1 is not recognized.
at org.slf4j.impl.JDK14LoggerAdapter.log(JDK14LoggerAdapter.java:650)
at org.apache.commons.logging.impl.SLF4JLocationAwareLog.info(SLF4JLocationAwareLog.java:120)

Add to this i don't know how to rightly set the path to my KDM install rep in the mendelson_as2_start.sh
The KDM is in /usr/java/jdk1.6.0_18

The jar files you mention (e.g. commons-httpclient-3.1.jar) are not part of the new version. These are libs from an older version of the mendelson opensource AS2 server and not required any more. Please just use the jars that are refered in the AS2.lax file of the _actual_ installer, dont put any older jar versions into your classpath.

Thank your for you help according this issue.
By working on my error messages refers to SLF4J i came to think that it could be wrong version issue.
So i've download slf4j-api-1.3.1.jar and used it instead of slf4j-api-1.5.0.jar and slf4j-jdk14-1.3.1.jar instead of slf4j-jdk14-1.5.0.jar
After that every thing worked prôperly.

You can find below all the path i had to set in the file mendelson_as2_start.sh if you want to put them in your install package, it was long and borring!
